Start with a measured layout, not just the total length of the room. Strip and linear lighting orders need a clear description of each run and the components required to complete it.
Why total length is not an order plan
Illustrative example: a 2.4 m cabinet run and a separate 1.2 m shelf run total 3.6 m, but they still need separate positions, routes and connection details. That total does not establish that one 5 m kit can serve both runs. Ask for confirmation of the cut points, allowable arrangement, connections and power requirements.
For LUMI’s confirmed 5 m 12 V strip, the power supply is included and cuts are at marked points. Do not infer that offcuts can be reused without the required compatible connections, or that the supplied power unit is dimmable.
Choose the effect before the length
A continuous cabinet task light and a concealed decorative glow solve different problems. Identify what should be illuminated and where the source will be visible. Measure each separate run and show corners, joins and the power location on a simple sketch; a single total length can hide important details.
Keep components accessible
Plan access to the power supply and connections before cabinetry is closed. Discuss how a future repair or replacement will be carried out without dismantling the finished installation.
Confirm the exact product rules
Ask whether the selected item can be cut or joined, which accessories it requires, and what limitations apply to each run. Do not assume different strips use interchangeable drivers, connectors or controls.
Build a complete order list
- Exact model and colour option.
- Number and length of runs.
- Specified power supply or driver.
- Mounting components and connectors.
- Any dimming or control requirement.
Check custom-order implications
Confirm measurements before agreeing to a cut length or special order. Read LUMI’s returns policy and ask which conditions apply to the proposed supply.
Browse linear and strip lighting. Send the layout through our contact page for product clarification or a separately quoted installation scope. A product photograph does not confirm the full set of accessories supplied.
